This border-crossing journey connects the cultural diversity of eastern Ethiopia with the historic landscapes of Somaliland. Beginning from Addis Ababa, travel via Awash and the ancient walled city of Harar before crossing at Wajaale into Somaliland.
In Hargeisa, experience one of the largest livestock and camel markets in the Horn of Africa, where pastoralists barter over thousands of Arabian and Somali camels daily.
A highlight of the expedition is Laas Geel ("Camel Well"), discovered in 2002 by French archaeologists. The 10 rock shelters feature pristine prehistoric polychrome paintings from 3,000 to 5,000 BC depicting cows adorned with ceremonial robes and horns.
End at the coastal port of Berbera, relaxing along the azure waters of the Gulf of Aden while exploring centuries-old Ottoman, Persian, and British colonial ruins.
