Your journey begins early in the morning from Addis Ababa, heading south through the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, pass fertile farmlands and scenic lakes, stopping at Lake Ziway to spot pelicans, yellow-billed storks, and other migratory water birds.
Upon reaching Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park, walk through old-growth juniper and Hagenia abyssinica woodlands. It is nearly impossible to miss the majestic Mountain Nyala and the endemic Menelik’s Bushbuck grazing calmly near the trails.
Days on trek cross the Web Valley past the Finch Habera waterfall, ascending into vast alpine moorlands covered with Giant Lobelia. Reaching Wasama and Garba Guracha lake provides a true sense of untamed wilderness found only in the Ethiopian highlands.
The finale crosses the Sanetti Plateau, home to the largest remaining population of the critically endangered Ethiopian Wolf, before descending through the heather belt into the lush Harenna forest.
