Cross into South Sudan or fly to Juba. Enjoy an afternoon city orientation including the John Garang Mausoleum, Konyo Konyo Market, and the Nile waterfront.
Drive north through acacia scrub into Mundari territory. Arrive at a traditional cattle camp before sunset to witness thousands of Ankole cattle return from grazing amidst dramatic dung smoke fires.
Spend the entire day with the Mundari. Observe morning ash bathing, cattle milking, horn shaping, and traditional wrestling before another unforgettable golden-hour sunset.
Drive to Bor, the historical center of the Dinka people. Visit local homesteads and learn about Dinka social structures and traditions.
Drive or fly east from Juba to Kapoeta, the heartland of the Toposa tribe, renowned for their intricate beaded necklaces and elaborate mud architecture.
Spend the day in traditional Toposa villages. Learn about their kinship ties with the Turkana of Kenya and observe handmade jewelry, pottery, and ceremonial dances.
Drive into Boma National Park, one of Africa’s largest and least disturbed wilderness reserves, home to seasonal migrations of white-eared kob, tiang, and elephants.
Full day exploring Boma’s vast grasslands and riverine forests. Spot buffalo, giraffes, migratory antelopes, and birdlife under starry African skies.
Travel through rugged hills to Torit, capital of Eastern Equatoria. Visit local markets and meet people from the Lotuko ethnic group.
Drive back to Juba through green rural landscapes. Celebrate the expedition with a riverside dinner watching the White Nile flow northward.
Morning at leisure for local souvenir shopping before your flight back to Addis Ababa, concluding an extraordinary cultural adventure.
